Network drives using WebDAV (without VPN)

If you aren´t connected with the university network, you can use WebDAV to gain access to Shares.

Connect using "Map network drive"-assistant

Open a Window

Open the Explorer (windows key+E) and click with the right mouse buttom on the entry “This PC”. After that choose “Map network drive”.

"Connect to a website"

Choose the entry “Connect to a website”:

Enter URL

Click on the following window the buttom “Next”: Then “custom network location” and “Next”: And finally enter the adress

Input username and password

Clicking on “Next” will take you to username and password query.
Enter the username in the format

abc12345@hs-regensburg.de

and confirm with “OK”:

We recommend to select “Remember my credentials” if you don´t want re-enter your data on each login.

Completion

Finally click on “Next” again and then on “Fertig stellen”:

The drive should be connected:

Problems

Only the K-Drive is shown in some cases. This is a Windows issue. To see all drives, you have to select Show hidden files, folders, and drives under Advanced settings, and then select OK(for an example in Windows 10).

Mac OS

Open the Dialogue

1. A connection with a server must be furnished.

Connect to Server

2. Indicate the Server Adress.

Problems

:!: Mac OSX with WebDAV is not able to show Folders with umlauts :!:

Linux

This Instruction was tested on Ubuntu 12.04LTS.

Map Network Drive

Open the Terminal and tap the following command

nautilus davs://filegw.hs-regensburg.de/webdav/ &

In the window that opens, tap your user ID

abc12345@hs-regensburg.de

and your password.

Now the standard file manager should open with the mapped network drive.

Setting Bookmarks

Rightclick on the network drive “WebDAV” → “Lesezeichen hinzufügen” set a permanent bookmark in Nautilus. When opening this bookmark for the first time, you must enter your username and password again as shown above.
